4th/5th GRADE - Karissa Taylor
4th/5th GRADE Karissa Taylor

Karissa somehow always knew that she would one day be a teacher. Throughout her childhood Karissa always loved school and would even create her very own classroom at home, complete with lesson plans and even snack time with anyone who was gracious enough to participate. Upon entering Pepperdine University, Karissa immediately enrolled in the Teacher Education program and loved it from the start! She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Sociology as well as a multiple subject credential and a single subject credential in English. Karissa has enjoyed three years of hands-on classroom experience in various classrooms ranging from 12th grade literature to kindergarten. During the last school year, Karissa fell in love with the combination classroom teaching 2nd and 3rd graders in Thousand Oaks. She looks forward to continuing with this kind of great learning environment and encouraging students to be responsible, creative, and compassionate people in our community of learners.
Karissa resides in Simi Valley with her loving family. In her leisure time with family and friends she enjoys cooking, hiking, and discovering new places. Another great activity includes exploring her artistic endeavor in photography. She is a passionate traveler and has been fortunate to experience living in England and Germany during her studies at Pepperdine. Karissa is excited to be a part of the BRIDGES team and can’t wait to meet all her students and their families.
