Hilda Salas - Director
DIRECTOR Hilda Salas

Hilda began her career in the field of education as a School Psychologist at Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard and later accepted a position as the District Psychologist. Hilda chose a career where she could work with students on a daily basis because of her own love for school and learning. Hilda was born and raised in Los Angeles, is of Mexican descent, and is bilingual and bicultural. Hilda truly loves her culture, the food, music, art, dance, and history, and feels every child should not only learn about his/her own cultural background, but feel proud to share it with others. It is Hilda’s belief that when children are accepted for exactly who they are, it easier to learn, because they are comfortable and feel safe in their environment. Hilda’s studies in Psychology reinforced her belief that children need to be provided with social and emotional support so that they may grow to be healthy adults who are creative thinkers, the leaders of tomorrow, and develop a lifelong love for learning. Hilda finds it important for students to enjoy the school day, because if a child is having fun, learning naturally occurs.
Hilda brings a vast amount of knowledge in the field of Special Education, parent and student rights, community resources, and is well known and respected in the field of education in Ventura County. Hilda is excited about the opening of BRIDGES and feels fortunate to be surrounded by so many dynamic, talented, and enthusiastic teachers, parents, and students. Hilda also looks forward to developing a strong relationship with the Glenwood community and working together to make this school year very successful. Hilda loves the movies, long walks, and spending time with her family. She is married to a wonderful man, John, and has two fabulous children, Stephanie and John, who are her inspiration to make the world a better place for children everyday. Hilda holds a Master’s Degree in School Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, a School Psychology Credential, and an Administrative Services Credential.
