A: A charter petition must be authorized by a local, county or state school board.  The petitioners (the founding group of parents and teachers) first  presented the BRIDGES charter petition to the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees for their acceptance (authorization). On December 6, 2009, the CVUSD Board (which also rejected MATES' charter) voted to deny the BRIDGES charter.

The California Charter Law provides an appeal process and on February 16th, our charter was authorized by the Ventura County Board of Education on appeal.
