Kindergarten Program
BRIDGES kindergarten program provides children with a developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning experience in a comfortable, nurturing environment where students actively experience their education. Children are continually challenged and parents bring their expertise in subjects, as well as their commitment to make a difference. It is creative, innovative, and individualized to meet each child’s needs/learning styles and to nourish his/her motivation and love of learning. It is a “whole-child” experience!
Play, children’s work, is an integral part of this experience. Our play-based curriculum offers children opportunities throughout the day to develop the ability to think abstractly by experiencing real objects using their senses. For example, blocks can represent an airplane or a train. Costumes can transform a kindergartener into anything from a frog to a princess. Sufficient practice using concrete objects as symbols is a necessary prerequisite to the use and comprehension of print. Each day provides opportunities to learn reading, writing, and math skills through real, meaningful hands-on situations. In addition, if we want children to learn to solve problems we must create safe environments in which they feel confident taking risks, making mistakes, learning from them, and trying again. BRIDGES kindergarten is a place where a child can create, experiment, discover, interact with others, and grow to their potential.
