BRIDGES and Ventura Charter School Form Independent Study Alliance
BRIDGES Charter School and Ventura Charter School have formed a partnership to create the first of its kind and very unique independent study program in Ventura County. Both schools believe in opening doors and creating opportunities for their students.
Through the creation of this charter school collaboration, these schools will be able to offer a greater amount of resources, extracurricular options, technology integration and eventually a wide variety of enrichment classes, including music, drama, art, technology, science, and field trips to supplement your child’s learning experience. We also hope to pilot a program where we will create live online classes (e-Classes) for our 6-8th grade students in math, writing, literature, and science using state-of-the-art technology. These classes will be small and designed to support the home study program. Additionally, we are looking forward to creating an online e-Tutoring program where our students can access tutors online to get help in a variety of subjects.
We are looking towards developing a program that allows the families to maintain the responsibility for their child’s education, yet offer a school culture and family to be a part of. It is our goal to go far beyond just providing the textbooks and a credentialed teacher who will visit with you every twenty days, but to tailor the support to your needs and unique lifestyle.
The program’s overall philosophy encompasses “whole child” educational philosophy, but will allow you, the family, to develop your own curriculum, teaching method and adapt your child’s education exclusively to your and your student’s needs and skills. It is our vision to create a personalized learning community for you and your student.
We hope that this brief introduction gives you an idea of the state-of-the-art program that BRIDGES, in alliance with Ventura Charter School, has created. We are currently accepting applications on a first come basis for the 2010/11 school year. Spaces will be limited.
