Director's Note April 22, 2019: Goal Setting Workshop, Summer Robotics Camp, Book Fair, and More!

Upcoming Goal Setting Workshop: Please RSVP!
At this time of year we begin the process of reflecting on and revising our goals for the following school year. We like to gather stakeholder feedback from as many people as possible, and we would love your input! We have room for 25 Bridges parents to help us reflect on and re-construct our goals for next school year during an interactive process wherein we look together at schoolwide data and discuss areas for improvement. This year, we are focusing specifically on our Math Curriculum and Family Partnerships. We hope you will consider joining us for a light dinner and discussion on April 30th from 6:30-8:30pm.

Education Committee Report on AB 1505-1507
I, along with the Directors from other Charter Schools in Ventura County, attended the Education Committee hearing in Sacramento to hear more about proposed legislation that could significantly impact Charter Schools in the state of California. The three bills (AB1505 1506, and 1507) did pass through the Education Committee and will now be going to the State Assembly to be voted on. If you would like to learn more about how these Bills could impact charter schools in the Conejo Valley, we have two smart, informed, and dedicated parents leading our community’s efforts. Thank you to Brandi and Bambi for all the efforts you are putting in to coordinating the Education and Advocacy in the Bridges community. You can reach out to them to learn more about how to become involved: Brandi Ringler Perri ( and Bambi Brodit ( They have been working with parents from River Oaks Academy and MATES parents to coordinate our community efforts.

Summer Robotics Program
Ms. Erin is launching a brand new summer program for Lego Robotics that we will be opening up to the community! Bridges students get first priority through the end of this week, and registration is limited to 15 students per week. The Lego Robotics camps are themed, the first week is Battle Bots, the second week is Robot Zoo, and the third week is Crazy Robot Inventions. This camp is open to students going into grades 2-8 for the 2019-2020 school year. Register quickly before we open spots to the community:

Spring Carnival
Thank you to our PAC and to our many parent and student volunteers who made our Spring Carnival an enormous success and a very fun afternoon! We are still tabulating our donations, but we are confident that we got very close to our goal of 40k which will be doubled by our annonymous donor! Stay tuned for more information from PAC about our final fundraising numbers!

Book Fair
Our Spring Book Fair is right around the corner and is always a source of significant fundraising for our fabulous library program that Ms. Rebekah runs. The Book Fair will run from May 13th-May 17th and will be open in the evening during our Open House.

Open House -- Mark your calendars!
Our spring Open House is May 16th from 5-6:30pm. This is a casual evening where you can view your child’s classroom, mingle with other parents, and preview the classrooms for your child’s next grade. We will also have the Director of School Nutrition at CVUSD, Virginia Beck, available to answer questions for families about Bridges’ new hot lunch and breakfast program for 2019-2020.
