Directors Note: May 8th: Robotics Program Updates, Movie Night, Bridging Ceremony, Parent Survey, and More!

Robotics Program Updates
Our robotics program at Bridges is expanding at a rapid pace! We are hosting three summer camps and are getting ready to launch our first ever First Lego League teams for 2019-2020! There are just a few spots left in our summer programs, and we have now opened the spots up to the public, so you can grab a friend from another school and bring them along to join in the fun! Bridges families can register here: Families who do not attend Bridges can register in our front office.

To learn more about our competitive First Lego League Teams for next year, you will need to join us in a mandatory parent night. Please register here:

Under the Stars Movie Night for Bridges Families THIS FRIDAY!
You're invited to "Family Movie Night Under the Stars"! It will be "practically perfect in every way" as we view Mary Poppins Returns!

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to the black top, some snacks to donate to the concession stand, and enjoy a movie to kick off Mother's Day weekend!

Friday, May 10th: "Doors" open at 7pm and the showtime is at 7:30pm.

Donations accepted to defray the cost of the movie licensing. Text MOVIENIGHT19 to 41444 or make a cash donation at the door.

Library Work Day: We need your help!
Ms. Rebekah and our library PMC needs a few extra parent volunteers to help with shelving books, sorting donations, painting stir sticks, etc. They are hosting volunteer days on
Tuesday 5/28/19 from 8:20am-12:45pm, Wednesday 5/29/19 from 8:20am-2:40pm, and Thursday 5/30/19 from 8:20-12:45pm in the Bridges Library! Thank you volunteers!

Parent Survey
Have you filled out our annual parent survey yet? If not, you have just one day left to participate! We are hoping for 100% participation from our families. Please hop over to this link and take 10 minutes to provide feedback that we will use to report to our Board of Directors, to the Ventura County Board of Education, and to the CDE our progress toward meeting our local goal of Providing an Effective Environment for Learning Based on Whole Child Tenents (children are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged).

Goal Setting Recap
We had a great turn out of students, parents, teachers, and board representatives at our annual goal setting workshop. We talked particularly about ways to improve our intervention services for students below and above grade level, we talked about the philosophical shifts in our math curriculum, and we discussed ways to encourage meaningful volunteer opportunities for parents. We will be incorporating the suggestions in our new LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan) which will be presented in a public hearing at our next board meeting!

Open House: May 16th 5pm-6:30pm
We hope you will join us for our Open House on May 16th from 5pm-6:30pm where you will have opportunities to visit your child’s classroom, and you can visit with your child’s future teachers in the next grade level! Board Elections will also open on the night of Open House. We have three open seats on our Board of Directors, and during Open House, you will hear short speeches from our new Board Candidates about why they want to serve at Bridges. Further, you won’t want to miss our annual Art Show hosted by Ms. Laura and viewable in the MPR during Open House! Meet us in the lunch area at 5pm to kick off the evening!

Bridging Ceremony and 8th Grade Graduation
Our graduation and Bridging Ceremony will take place on June 6th during the school day. 8th Grade graduation will begin promptly at 9am in the MPR. Our Bridging Ceremony will take place immediately following graduation at 12pm. We hope that you will make a strong effort to join us at Bridging -- each student will walk over our “Bridge” into summer supported by their teacher. It is a special ceremony that you won’t want to miss!

Yearbooks are being delivered on June 2nd, and now is the time to place your order! You aren’t going to want to miss out! Ordering information is available here:

Was Someone Asking for Hydration Stations?!?
After three years of discussion, we are finally able to finance the long awaited Hydration Stations, and we expect that installation will begin before the school year ends! We will be installing two new Hydration Stations -- one will replace the drinking fountain between the lower grade restrooms, and the other will be in the lunch area by the Middle School lockers. Thank you to everyone who has put effort into bringing this project to fruition for our students!

Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Bridges' May 13th-17th. Our book fair theme is...Dinosaurs, a prehistoric place full of irresistible books kids can't wait to read so their imaginations can grow!  Dinosaurs didn't read and they are extinct! We'd like your help to make this Book Fair that "Dino-Mite" experience for our students and inspire T-Rexcellent results! The book fair is the library's Biggest Fundraiser and really needs your help. Bridges' Library gets back 65% of all sale to buy new books! For each shift that you sign up to help, you will receive a raffle ticket for a special Parent Volunteer Raffle Basket! It is our little way to say thank you! Sign-up here:
