Director's Note, September 4th: Field Trips, Spirit Wear, Whole School Activities, and More!

Luau Recap
Our welcome back school Luau hosted by our Middle School Senate and Student Council was a huge success! Students engaged in a whole school hula led by Ms. Megan, a limbo hosted by Ms. Laura and Ms. Rebekah, then rotated through engaging stations with their classes that were hosted by our middle school student leaders. Thank you to parents for the donations of food, drinks, and time. We are looking forward to even more of our whole school events!

Whole School Activities Hosted by PAC
Our school community is so vibrant at Bridges thanks to parent support, and you won’t want to miss these community events hosted by PAC. Our biggest community events are the Silent Auction, the Harvest Festival, the Fun Run, the Spring Carnival, and this year, we will be having a Gala to celebrate our 10th year as a Charter School. Mark these events on your calendars, as you won’t want to leave yourself out!

  • Silent Auction (November 9)
  • Harvest Festival (November 22)
  • Fun Run (March 13)
  • Spring Carnival (April 24th)
  • 10 Year Gala (May 2)
  • Bridging Ceremony (June 4)
Extensions Childcare
Please pick up your child from school no later than 3pm! If your child is consistently left later than 3pm, and they are not signed up for Extensions After School Programs, then we will have to alert local authorities.

If you cannot pick up your child by 3pm regularly, then please consider signing them up for Extensions. Both monthly and drop in rates are available. More information can be obtained by contacting tera.burton@bridgescharter.org

If you are volunteering in classrooms, and need childcare while you volunteer, our Extensions sibling program is available on Wednesday mornings. Children aged 3+ who are potty trained are welcome in our sibling program on Wednesday mornings only.

Early Release Schedule Next Week for Grades 1-3 ONLY
Students in grades 1-3 will be released next week at 1:30pm so that their teachers can conduct beginning of the year assessments in small group and 1-1 settings. Teachers will be asking you to sign up for a time slot for your child’s assessment. Please check your class parent square board to sign up! If you cannot pick up your child by 1:30pm next week, consider using Extensions drop-in hours for care, as we will not have staff to monitor children after the 1:30 pick-up.

Back to School Night
Our annual Back to School Night is TOMORROW, Thursday, September 5th from 5:30pm-6:45pm. We will meet at the picnic tables for a welcome with Dr. Kelly and Ms. Cindy from 5:30-5:45, then we will break out to classrooms. K-5 teachers will lead two sessions with the same content, and Middle School teachers will lead one session. If you have children in both grade spans, we recommend that two parents/guardians attend in order to divide and conquer!

The purpose of Back to School Night is to learn more about the curriculum and different projects that your child will be engaging in during the school year.

Questions about your child’s progress in school or concerns about your child’s social, emotional, or academic needs are best left for a 1-1 meeting with a teacher, and are not Back to School Night topics.

Also remember to be respectful of your teachers’ time. We will be locking doors at 6:50pm, it is a school night, after all! 😁

Back to School Night is an adult only event!

Mandatory Parent Volunteer Orientations
There are still two more mandatory parent volunteer orientations left for you to attend if you did not attend the first one! These orientations are required if you wish to volunteer in your child’s classroom. Note that our final orientation will take place right before our Back to School Night tomorrow! Please RSVP here if you haven’t already: https://www.parentsquare.com/feeds/1691982

Field Trips
One aspect of our school that makes us so special are the regular field trips where our students get to engage in learning outside of the classroom. The variety and regularity of our field trip experiences are made possible only with well qualified parent drivers. Parent Drivers need to be fingerprinted with the DOJ and FBI, Fill out a Vehicle Use Form, Provide a DMV Record, a Copy of your Driver’s License, provide a copy of your Insurance Declaration Page, your Vehicle Registration Page, and sign an Injury Waiver.

In addition, all students participating in field trips must submit their Permission Forms at least 72 hours in advance or they will not be able to attend.

Bridges Spirit Wear Sales
Bring your cash or card on Friday to purchase Bridges spiritwear that will be available for purchase before or after school!

Family Donation Drive
Our family donation drive is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and our PAC is relying on you to participate! PAC is hoping to generate $50,000 dollars this year in our Family Donation drive alone. Their goal is 100% participation, and they are asking for $200 per child. As Bridges is a public school, no school donations are required, but if you have the means, please donate today! https://www.parentsquare.com/feeds/1751970

Have a great week!
