Dear Bridges Families:
Our task force has been working tirelessly since our school closure in March to develop a safe and responsive plan to return to school. We have been preparing extensive safety measures, protocols for social distancing, designing staggered schedules, and working creatively with our support staff and resources so that learning could continue, to the extent possible, at our wonderful school face to face with our dedicated and amazing teachers and staff.
Like you, we want more than anything to be back in our classrooms. Unfortunately, with the escalation of COVID cases and the more extensive restrictions imposed by the Governor, we have made the decision to begin the school year in the Fall virtually.
This is not a decision that was made lightly; it was a decision that was made in collaboration with the county superintendent Dr. Mantooth and the superintendents of our local school districts including CVUSD. We hold the health and safety of our students and staff as our absolute highest priority.
At this time we do not have the metrics in place for evaluating when a safe return to school may be, but we will continue to evaluate this with our Board of Directors in collaboration with local school districts, the Ventura County Public Health, and our county leaders. We will monitor the situation fluidly, and at this time we anticipate virtual learning to occur through through October 23rd.
Our teachers and staff are ready to invest in the best learning models for virtual learning that we can put into place in the fall with enhanced support for psycho-social-emotional health and whole child learning as a top priority. To the best of our ability, our virtual learning plans will include support for parents, targeted and uninterrupted learning opportunities, and projects that evoke connection, creativity, excitement, and engagement with academic content.
While we are just now pivoting to a new dimension of planning and therefore will not have answers to all of your questions, I will be hosting a zoom meeting for parents at noon on Monday, July 20th to address some questions and to receive your concerns and ideas.
We stand, still, together and beside you, and we will continue to be the community you know as Bridges.
With hugs, regret, empathy, and united in partnership --
Dr. Kelly, Ms. Cindy
