Director's Note: January 11th

Dear Families:

I want to begin by again thanking you for your patience and flexibility with us as we continue to navigate the challenges that COVID requires us to respond to. Sometimes information comes to us late, and we need to make decisions that impact you at the last minute. We so appreciate your resiliency through these processes.

We also want to thank you for your transparency in sharing with us your close contacts with COVID positive individuals and for your willingness to keep your children home when they develop symptoms that are aligned with COVID. This communication helps us to protect health and safety of our teachers and staff who are on the front line and to support the safety of our students in the classroom.

Since re-opening on November 30th, 3 staff members and 4 students have tested positive for COVID. We have quarantined 3 classrooms as a result of staff reporting close contacts with COVID positive individuals.

The cases of COVID that have been reported with students and staff have been isolated, and the classes or teachers we have quarantined have done so only out of an abundance of caution.

So that we can continue to keep health and safety of our students and staff as a top priority, we do follow strict guidelines for symptom screening and quarantining:

Symptom Screening

The following are considered High-Risk Symptoms. If your child exhibits any of these symptoms, we will require that your child stay home until they are evaluated by a doctor or have a negative COVID test:

  • Fever greater than 99.5
  • Cough
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Loss of Taste or Smell

The following are considered Low-Risk Symptoms. If your child has one or fewer of these symptoms, they can attend school on site. However, if your child has two or more of these symptoms, we will require that your child stay home until they are evaluated by a doctor or have a negative COVID test:

  • Fatigue or body/muscle aches
  • Runny nose or congestion
  • Sore throat
  • Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
  • Headache

If anyone in your family tests positive for COVID, or if you or your child have close contact with a person who tests positive for COVID, we ask that you communicate with us right away by calling 805-492-3569 OR emailing Dr. Kelly (Kelly.simon@bridgescharter.org) and Ms. Cindy (Cindy.mccarthy@bridgescharter.org)
