Director's Note, January 8th, 2018

Dear Bridges Community:

Welcome back Bridges families! We hope you all feel rejuvenated after the winter break. This rain is quite a refreshing start to the New Year!

Survey Results Are In

Thank you for participating in our Survey about bringing Race to Nowhere or Beyond Measure to our school community. We received a lot of support for this, so Ms. Marsi and I will be investigating ways to move forward. We will announce a date, venue, and the film choice soon, so continue checking your email for updates! In the meantime, check out this link to learn more!:

Our New Website is Live!

After a few months of development, we have finally launched our new webpage. It is much more user friendly for us, so we will be able to make more regular updates. We are still working on building the content, so continue to check back for regular updates to the content and news.

Holiday Choir Showcased so Much Bridges Talent

Ms. Noreen and all of our Bridges students involved in choir put on an amazing show for our community. I was touched by the music and impressed by the degree of musical abilities that our students brought to the stage.

Thank you too to our AV Crew who worked so hard to ensure the sound and lighting were professionally set-up. Well done to everyone involved!

January is here, and our Makerspace is Launching!

Thank you to all who have participated in our STEAM challenges leading up to the Makerspace Launch! This month’s theme will be “Winter”, and Ms. Rebekah has some exciting challenges planned for students who wish to partake.

We are easing into our new Makerspace with baby steps, but we expect a lot of excitement and engagement with our students!

The Makerspace will be open at recess and lunch on Wednesdays for select grades. As the theme for January is winter, students will have opportunities to build magnatile challenges at a light table, design and build catapults to launch “snowballs”, and build a snowflake inspired by the book Snowflake Bently.

We would like to see our Makerspace take off and expand into an even more integrated part of our school, but to do this, we will need parent help! Ms. Rebekah and I will be sending out sign-ups for parent volunteers for Makerspace soon, so please sign up if you can!

January Social Emotional Learning Theme and School Assembly

Our  School Wide Social Emotional Theme for the month is Bullying and Caring for One Another.

We recognize that in our world, the ability to empathize with others is vital. This month, in addition to discussing themes related to bullying, teasing, being a positive bystander, respecting others, and empathy, we will be bringing in a theater troop to lead an age appropriate assembly on bullying prevention (

The assemblies will be on Thursday, January 18th. The assembly for Grades 5-8 will be from 9am-10am, and Grades K-4 will be from 10am-11am.
