Director's Note, November 5: Drills and Student Safety, TK Program, Coffee Chat Tomorrow, Student Attendance, and More!

TK Program at Bridges
Did you know that we have a Transitional Kindergarten program through our home school? TK students can come to Bridges on Mondays and Wednesdays for a full day of Enrichment classes which includes time with our Naturalists John and Ellen, music classes, art, PE, STEAM, Makerspace, etc! Books, supplies, and curriculum are provided to you by Bridges, and the program is free of chage! Talk to our Home School Director, Philip Ross, or Theresa in the front office: 805-492-3569.

Drills and Student Safety
Student safety has been a significant area of focus for us so far this year. With the support of our local School Resource Officers we are currently researching ways to improve the safety of our school site and our response to potential crisis’. Over the course of the school year, our students, staff, and teachers will participate in 9 fire drills, 5 lock down drills, and 2 earthquake drills. We also have a Safety Committee chaired by Ozge Heerma, a parent and board representative, that is meeting periodically to review our Comprehensive Safety Plan and update our Drill Procedures. Our teachers and staff will also be engaging in table-talk trainings this school year that will be facilitated by our School Resource Officers.

Student Phone Calls Home
We have been having a surge of students wanting to call home during their recesses and lunch for non-urgent things like scheduling play dates. Please note  that we will be reserving access to the school phones for students during the day for emergencies only. Classroom teachers will be making the announcement to their classes as well.

Harvest Festival on November 16th
Hot on the heels of our Silent Auction is our school-wide Harvest Festival full of interactive centers for students that are entirely parent driven. This event is always one of the highlights of our school year! You are not going to want to miss it!  Our Harvest Festival committee is planning an extraordinary day for our students. Please volunteer to bring supplies or give your time to help make this day a success! Sign up here to volunteer your time: Sign up here to donate supplies:

Middle School Report Cards
Our middle school report cards went home with your students on Friday! We are requiring a parent signature this year -- please make sure to sign the report cards and return them to your child’s home room teacher no later than the end of this week!
